First time
She certainly got to this stage a lot quicker than I did. It took literally dozens of attempts before I got to grips with DPNs. It didn’t help that I had no-one to show me how, which of course isn’t a problem for Lily. I made all the mistakes for her! She’s using Panda silk [...]

favour gaining..
Only slightly though. This yarn is hard on my wrists. Much more so than any other cotton I’ve used. We’ve had a lazy morning at the villa today before we hit the Magic Kingdom later, so I’ve managed a few more rows, but it’s going to be slow. Real slow. I’m also finding it hard [...]

….by Sam. These are the rules!
“The rules of the game get posted at the beginning. Each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5-6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and [...]

Mickey -2 Favour – 0
The mouse is winning hands down at the minute! Favour is only 4 rows long. The children absolutely love it here. Joel reeeaallly needs his own Shamu you know.
But come on! You didn’t think my yarn radar had failed me did you? Clearly it hasn’t.

Rowan denim. 20 balls. It was Anna’s fault. She started it with the Prima! Just watch this space. It’s going to be Favour v. Mickey for the next two weeks.

Shetland triangle
Pattern: Shetland triangle from Wrap Style
Yarn: Debbie Blisss baby cashmerino. Just over 2 balls.
Needles: 4mm
Modifications: None
Now I know why nearly everyone knits extra pattern repeats on this. It’s tiny. I really intended this to be for me, and I’m sure it’ll get some wear over winter as a scarf. But it’s nowhere near big enough [...]

Just a hint
I really wanted this off the needles before going on holiday so the socks got dumped! It’s blocking quietly now, so I may just be able to sneak in a FO photograph before we go.
It looks lovely, but is it just me, or does wet cashmerino smell bad? Yuck!

A sock
Yes, I cast on a sock. A whole month has gone by without one so it was overdue. The weather has been glorious here for the past week, and this afternoon was just perfect for knitting in the garden. A refreshing cool drink, the afternoon play on Radio 4 and some totally unseasonal woolly sock [...]

Feeling sad
We are a subdued household today.
Following much discussion we’ve decided to retire Minder. He’s been with us for the last 5 years, and his previous owner has agreed to take him back for the rest of his life. Despite knowing that he wouldn’t be with us forever, it’s still so difficult to let him go. He truly has [...]

Ladylike?
Pattern: Geno from Young Rowan/Rowan 43.
Yarn: Rowan 4-ply cotton. 5 balls.
Needles: 2.75mm and 3mm.
Modifications: Picked up less stitches for front edgings than pattern stated.
All the time I was knitting this, I was thinking it looked small. It’s actually a touch too big for Lily, but I’m ok with there being a little growing space. It’s [...]
